Free, in-person classes in Los Angeles
Calm is a skill.
You can learn it.
Small relaxation classes for people carrying stress and anxiety. Six evenings, simple tools you can use anywhere. No experience, special clothing or beliefs needed.
Who it's for
If your mind won't switch off, your shoulders live near your ears, or worry follows you to bed, this course is for you.
It's for people under real pressure who want something practical: work or money stress, family strain, poor sleep, or simply the feeling of carrying too much.
- Can't switch off at night
- Tension in the jaw, neck or shoulders
- Running on empty, close to burnout
- Want calm without anything strange or complicated
How it works
A small group of no more than 10 meets once a week for six weeks. Each evening is one hour.
- 1
A short idea
Ten minutes on one practical topic, in plain words.
- 2
Body relaxation
A guided release of the tension the body holds.
- 3
Breathing practice
Slow, steady breathing and a calm focus word.
- 4
Questions
Time to ask, and one easy exercise for the week.
The six weeks
- How stress works and how the body calms down
- Letting go of tension held in the body
- The breath as a steady anchor
- Focusing the mind with a calm word
- Working with worry without fighting it
- Taking it into daily life with a 3-minute reset
Our approach
We start with the body, because tension lives there. Then the breath, because it's always with you. Only then do we work with the mind: not by emptying it, but by giving it one calm thing to rest on.
Everything is taught in plain words, sitting in a chair, eyes open or closed as you like. You stay alert and in charge the whole time.
Clean and simple
- No chanting or special words
- No special postures or clothing
- No rituals, nothing to believe
- No hypnosis
- Just practical tools that work
Your teacher
Meet David Kaye
I found my path to meditation through my own experience with significant anxiety and stress. For a long time I had no tools to reduce them besides working harder, and I came close to total burnout.
As I turned the corner and began working on my mental health, meditation was a tool I used like a medication. It gave me significant relief and expanded my capacity to hold the stresses of life without collapsing. During that time I was able to begin pursuing healing in other areas too.
Meditation has been in our family for generations. My grandmother, Dr. Atara Hasofer, helped develop this truly clean, simple and neutral meditation to help people who were simply looking to heal from anxiety and stress. These classes pass it on.
